The Chicago Japanese American Council is pleased to announce the 33rd Annual Japan Day festival (formally known as Japan Fest) to be held Saturday, July 18th from noon to 8PM, and Sunday, July 19th from noon to 5PM, at the world-famous Arlington International Racecourse, in Arlington Heights, IL. The 2015 Japan Day will coincide with the running of the Hanshin Cup Race at AIR.As the Midwest’s largest showcase for all things Japanese, the 2015 Japan Day will present three entertainment areas:
- J-Tradition, featuring martial arts, calligraphy, tea ceremony, taiko drumming, art performances, cultural exhibits and a special Kid’s Corner.
- J-Taste, featuring the finest in Japanese cuisine, including our Ramen Restaurant Alley, local Japanese gourmet goods, and offerings from many local Japanese restaurants.
- J-Entertainment, featuring hit J-pop band Funkist on Saturday night, a “flashmob” Awa Odori folk dance, and the Cosplay party sponsored by Japanator.com, finalfanboy.com and Kinokuniya Books.
Stop by and see Akinori Ogata, the only Japanese driver in the NASCAR racing series along with his #35 Eneos Motor Oil race car. And of course, place your wagers on the running of the Hanshin Cup!
